6 PREPARE FOR SUCCESS
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

How many times have you wanted to do something but there was not enough time in a day to do such? Well here
is the good news. YOU MAKE TIME! Miss a television program. Miss a football game. Miss a long conversation on
the telephone. Whatever it takes, you must realize its O.K to miss something, which is not giving you the type of
value needed to succeed in what you want to create into a reality.
If for some reason you cannot find the time to miss a television program, which you are addicted to; then sleep
fewer hours. Do whatever you must do to achieve what you want to achieve in this music business. Better yet,
whatever you want to achieve out of life.
You will need to become committed. Spend more time and energy in making things you want to happen for you
occur. Realize it will take constant work to achieve your mission. And most importantly, if you cannot find the time
needed to accomplish your undertaking or do not want to make the necessary changes in your lifestyle to run a
successful label, don’t waste your time!

Some words of advice, it will not happen.

It’s your choice to do it or not. The great thing is… “it is your choice”, because if you can dream it, you can
achieve it. And to achieve it, only you can make that decision. But remember, you must also work to make your
desire into a reality. For your thoughts becomes your words, your words become your actions, your actions
become your habits and your habits become your character. As for your character, it becomes your destiny. So
keep your thoughts on how you are going to obtain the prize.

You must believe in yourself and in to obtain your goals.

You could write down your goals as a reminder to yourself what it is you desire to achieve and how you are going
to achieve it. You should also outline a plan to accomplish your tasks with a timetable for a reality check to see if
you are getting closer to realizing your necessary objectives are being accomplished.
If you cannot believe in yourself, then you should not believe in your quest for success within the recording
industry.
I cannot help but to admire the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Here is a man who believed his spices and
herbs would make chicken “Finger Licking Good”. His quest was to make believers out of restaurant operators.
Therefore he drove the highways with no assurance of knowing if people would buy into his way of cooking
chicken.

Fear of rejection was not on his agenda. In fact, he faced hundreds upon hundreds of “Not interested restaurant
owner” before some decided to give it a try.

The result of his quest in the face of “NO” was success.
His fear of rejections was not a factor. However, the confidence he had in his dream would not diminish. Because
of his determination, there are Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants worldwide.
This is why when things appear not to be going as you would like it to go, keep moving toward your goals. And
when you get kicked down get back up.

It’s OK to think about the many things which could go wrong, but once you have acknowledge them, think
concerning how you can prevent them from being an issue in the future.
Instead of fear, replace it with persistence, which is a form of faith, if you truly believe in yourself. Because every
conflict you may encounter you will have a choice of exhibiting staying power. Your lack of fear will represent the
difference between reaching and not reaching your goal.

Opposition will always come to the person who aspires, which is why he or she can not turn away from a
challenge. The fearless inspired person will not turn away from their destiny.
My personal theory is: “If you should get knocked down, get back up and continue your quest. But remember: If
you keep getting knocked down doing the same thing, change your method or choose a different road to continue
your pursuit.

Knowledge is power and two heads are better than one. Therefore seeking additional counsel for additional
knowledge can only increase your odds for success. Just make sure the knowledge you get is from a reliable
source. I would not ask a baker how to build a High Rise Apartment Complex.
If for some reason you cannot find someone with the additional knowledge you need, you need to start
researching. What a wonderful thing; The Internet! You can research all day and night.

Know and be able to say your goals at any given time.

After piecing your product together, it is time to sell it. No longer is it a creative endeavor. It now becomes a
business.
Any business desiring to be successful in its undertaking must create a business plan which will help ensure its
success.

A business plan outlines your goals; it outlines how you plan to achieve those goals in addition to how will you
generate your income. In short, a business plan is a map, which shows you how to get from point A to point B.
